Frequently asked questions

Everything operators ask before moving their adda onto Bilti.

What exactly is a "bilty" and does Bilti replace my paper one?

A bilty (consignment note) is the document your booking agency issues when goods are handed over for transport. Bilti digitises it end to end: automatic numbering per office (KHI-000001, LHR-000001…), charges like labour and godam recorded on the document itself, printing, PDF, and a guest tracking page your customers can check without logging in. You can keep stamping paper copies — the print view is designed for it.

Do my customers need an account to track their goods?

No. Share the bilty number and the receiver's phone number; they open the tracking page, enter both, and see the live timeline — booked, loaded, dispatched, arrived, delivered — plus WhatsApp events. No login, no app install.

How does the khata (party ledger) stay trustworthy?

Money rules are enforced by the system, not by whoever is typing: a delivered bilty posts exactly one charge (freight + charges) — it can never be double-posted; receivings are append-and-void, never edited; money applies to the oldest dues first (FIFO); a bounced cheque is reversed with its allocations removed, not deleted. Every rupee in the ledger has a document behind it.

What about WhatsApp messages — do you send them from your number?

Messages go out under your own setup. In log mode everything is recorded in-app but nothing leaves the system — perfect for training and audits. When you connect the Meta WhatsApp Cloud API (your own Business number), booking, dispatch, arrival, delivery and payment confirmations send automatically. Costs are billed by Meta per conversation, not by us.

Can I split one bilty across multiple trucks?

Yes. When loading a bilty onto a voucher you can send part of the quantity (e.g. 30 of 50 bags now, the rest on the next truck). The remaining quantity stays available for the next voucher, and the bilty only marks delivered when the last of it is handed over.

How is commission calculated for hired trucks?

When you close a voucher, commission is computed automatically: freight − voucher expenses − kiraya. Full-container or special deals can use a manual commission instead. Once closed, the voucher locks — the number on it is final.

Who can see and change what?

Three roles: staff run their own office (booking, loading, receivings, gate passes); managers additionally see reports, payroll, WhatsApp and can switch across offices; the owner additionally controls settings, users and offices. Voids, bounces and closures are all recorded in an audit log with user and time.

Is my data safe? What about backups?

Traffic is HTTPS-only with modern security headers, logins are rate-limited, and sessions are CSRF-protected. The database is dumped daily with 14-day retention. Your financial data belongs to your business — we never sell it.

How do I get started?

Just sign up — name, email and password, and you are in. Add your office and parties and book your first bilty the same afternoon. Want a look first? The live demo needs no signup at all.

Can I try it with my own team before paying?

Yes — the live demo logs you in instantly as owner, manager or staff on realistic Karachi–Lahore data. Book a bilty, dispatch a truck, record a receiving, close a voucher and read the reports. Nothing to install.

What if something looks wrong on a page?

Every screen has a built-in bug pointer: click the 🐛 button, click the exact spot that's wrong, leave a note. The report (page, position, your note) lands in the team's review queue with a screenshot-style view — no copying URLs, no screenshots to email.

Where do I learn the full workflow?

The in-app Operation Manual (Help → Manual) covers every role step by step — booking field by field, voucher lifecycle, cheque bounces, payroll, reports. There is also a public guides section explaining bilties, kiraya and khata culture for newcomers.
